The beginning

3 Miles A Day for 30 Days – Day 4

November 11, 2020.

My pre-run meal consisted of a Mediterranean Salad about 2 hours before running, plus a Sea Salt Rx bar and an 8-ounce cup of coffee. Also drank about 8 ounces of water.

Yesterday, I felt really good pre-run. Today was no exception. I really thought when I started this running challenge I would be quite sore starting off, but I have been very fortunate.

Today, The weather was overcast, with light rain. The temperature was still warm at around 78F when I headed out the door.

My weather app said the wind was 8mph, but it wasn’t bad at all. Actually, good day for running.

I’m enjoying the last few days of warm weather since the forecast for next week shows temperatures dropping into the 50’s.

Completed my normal pre-run checklist; light stretching, a power check for the phone and air pods, and grabbed my handheld phone carrier. Let’s go!

No change in my running course. I am trying to be as consistent as possible. A normal pattern for me is to feel comfortable and then start adding on miles, and more until I burn out. I don’t want that to happen for this running challenge. Focus grasshopper!

My body felt good at the start.

I’ve been mentioning my intermittent fasting quite often, because it does have an impact on my overall run. While I ate a nice salad a couple of hours prior to running and a snack bar with coffee 30 minutes before, it was still 16 hours since my last real meal.

After the two-mile mark today, I really started to feel hungry and fatigued. A 3-mile run is really not much for someone who has been involved with running previously (I keep telling myself). I will look to eat a bit more tomorrow.

I’ve been trying to incorporate the runs without changing my diet, but that doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

My time today was almost identical to yesterday’s time. It’s a good sign since I didn’t feel great.

Post-run meal – Turkey sandwich on white bread with mustard, and handful of Miss Vickie’s potato chip. Yum!
