3 Miles A Day for 30 Days – Day 5
November 12, 2020.
My pre-run meal consisted of a turkey sandwich on Wonder bread and (2) bags of trail mix. Also drank about 8 ounces of water. I wasn’t going to run out of fuel today
Yesterday, I started off fine but then felt hungry and fatigued for the last mile. My thoughts were a slight pre-run diet change was needed. So I made sure to address this today.
My body has quickly adapted the running, which is good to see. Since I started this running challenge I’ve been pretty happy that I maybe wasn’t in as bad a running shape as I feared.
Today, the weather was a total washout. The temperature was 63F during the run. During the time I was on the road, 2.6 inches had already fallen.
…and a hard rain fell Running with big puddles
My weather app said the wind was 10 mph, but it still wasn’t an issue. While it was a crappy day to be outside, it was still better than running on a treadmill.
Completed my pre-run checklist; light stretching, a power check for the phone and air pods, grabbed my handheld phone carrier and grabbed a running jacket.

3 Miles A Day for 30 Days – Day 5 – Notes:
No change in my run circuit.
My body felt good from start to finish.
I made sure to take in enough calories to hitting the road. Felt a lot better.
I was tempted today to really pick up the pace on the last mile. But after being forced to run through puddles due to two-way traffic and small shoulders in certain places, my shoes were totally soaked. I’ll consider a faster mile 3 tomorrow.
My time today was inline with yesterday. Actually, it was a few seconds better and my best time so far. I haven’t tried pushing the pace at all at this point of the challenge.
I know I’m capable of running faster, but I don’t want to rush things.
If I’m feeling motivated tomorrow, I will try to get under the 30 minute barrier. Just have to start out faster. Maybe if I do more of a pre-run regimen, I can begin better.
Also – Did 100 push-ups after the run.
Post-run meal – Nothing really. Probably because I had a good base to start with. Will just wait until dinner in a few hours.
