My pre-run meal – 1/3 cup of Steel Cut Oats Oatmeal and a cup of coffee

Long Distance Running On My Mind

If I said the weather was great yesterday, today was incredible!

The weather today was sunny and an amazing day to run! 63 F at run time.

I have been thinking I needed to add a long run to my normal daily 3 mile runs.

With little thought, I decided to run 6 miles.

Having a meal, a light meal… I thought it would be a good day to try.

Distance running is more mental than physical. My mind was right, so all systems go.

Completed my pre-run checklist; a warm-up of light stretching, a power check for the phone and air pods, grabbed my handheld phone carrier. Let’s roll.

On the Run – Before and After

At Your Own Pace

I finally decided to change my running trail.

It was a beautiful Saturday, which motivated me to push my limits.

Time was not a major issue. I set my pace calculator for a 10 minute mile. I wanted to go long and slow. I didn’t want muscle recovery to be an issue for tomorrow.

My body felt good during the run. I continue to use my older running shoes (Nike Air Max).

The wind was not a factor.

I wasn’t sure how I would do today, but I’m glad I did it. I love a long distance running and the sense of accomplishment you get from doing it.

I was satisfied to have completed the workout and was pleased with my overall fitness level.

30 day Run Streak Challenge Still Alive

I started this morning with the aim of doing a workout to improve my weekly runs.

In order to improve my 3-mile times, the most effective way is to use a long run at least once a week.

Mission accomplished.

Tomorrow I will get my 100 pushups in. Not happening again today. I really need pushups to improve my fitness level.

Post-run meal – Grillled chicken thighs and baby red potatoes.
